Career Planning

Planning for your future includes the following elements:
  1. SELF-AWARENESS - an analysis of interests, skills, aptitudes, values and experiences.
  2. CAREER EXPLORATION - an exploration of careers in pathways related to self-awareness information.
  3. DECISION MAKING - long-term and short term goals are developed related to the information gathered during the self-awareness and career exploration phases.
  4. CAREER PLANNING - creating a plan of action with steps to reach your career goals.


Career Pathways - Six clusters of occupations linked through interests, abilities and talents requiring various levels of education and training. 

Michigan Department of Career Development (MCDC) - Information including career preparation, finding a job and employer services

Michigan Works - This contains information about job training, education and employment opportunities. This is the old MESC site

U.S. Department of Labor - This site contains the Occupational Outlook Handbook - which gives you comprehensive information about any career you might be interested in. The Career Information site contains information relating careers to school subjects you like.

Careers in the Military - Get excellent job training while serving your country. A career in the military can also lead to a college degree.
